The days of napping in the warm sun at the beach are dwindling but that also means it is time to get ready your cozy den for the colder days! As you potter around your home looking for your school supplies - you suddenly realize you are digging through your cupboard for your stationary for that trusty pencil. Where did everything go? When did I collect all these markers that are now dried out?
Fret not! There’s still time to transform your summer casa into a working space. While decluttering can be a daunting task, we are here to offer some tips and tricks on letting go of what no longer sparks joy within you or keeping your prized possessions away.
When tackling decluttering, it is important to break it down to avoiding overwhelming yourself. By designating areas to clear, it will be easier to break down which areas and the specific categories to sort through. When sorting out the clutter, do consider creating a criteria for yourself to aid in you decision to keep or discard!

💡 One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Over time it is normal to accumulate belongings. However, in excess it can lead to a disorganized environment which leads to stress and anxiety. An organized environment is guaranteed to boost your productivity, your mood and control over your personal life.

As you prepare yourself for busier months ahead, get on top of the game by planning out for success! Dedicate a space for work, and after each usage, spend around 5 minutes to tidy it out to reduce stress and improve productivity.
Start identifying items that you no longer use or don’t work. Begin by discarding those.
Gather all items on your desk and create a system for yourself.
Collect all important documents and file it from oldest to the most recent document.
Consider getting a drawer organizer or create from from unused paper bags.
Do some cable management and keep the desk free from the entrapment of cables.
💡 Pro tip! Finding it hard to part with an item? It is okay to sit on it and think about its place. Consider keep a small basket for items that still hold sentimental value and giving it a small corner of your desk or filing cabinet. It’s okay to not part with it yet.

💡 Pro tip! Keep it clean and your desk clear. By dedicating some time to cleaning it after each use, you can help protect your work space and your productivity. Return each item to where it belongs so you will never have to struggle finding it when you need it. I can personally attest with struggling to put everything back in its original place. But by having a designated area, I minimize my struggle locating my favourite pastel blue highlighter.

As the weather is getting colder, perhaps it is time to stash away your favourite pair of shorts and prepare for fall! Don’t worry about feeling overwhelmed by the volume of clothes, let’s pull those sleeves up and get cracking!
Pro tip! Consider organizing your closet by occasion or by colour . By sorting into these categories, it helps you see what you have at a quick glance.
Start emptying your closet. You can clean and get a good bird’s eye view of how much space you have to work with!
Gather clothes that no longer fits or that has been sitting there without being worn. If the clothes are in good condition, please do consider donating them or selling them at thrift stores!
Clean and declutter the shelves. Investing in closet organizers like hangers, shelves and bins to organize the types of clothing your have and utilize the space you have!
Organize and designate areas for each type of clothes. Future you will thank you when you are rushing to decide what to wear before running to class.
Store out-of-season items in bins or under the bed to free up space in your closet!
💡 Pro tip! Maintain your domain of clothes by keeping in mind what goes in and out of your closet. Did you nab a great deal for a pair of jeans? Consider removing an old pair to be replaced by that new addition! Perhaps you saw a new jumper at the mall - consider how it fits into your existing wardrobe and whether it truly adds value.
