But let's face it, a disorganized and neglected wardrobe can quickly turn into a black hole of chaos and forgotten treasures. Fear not! With a little effort and some thoughtful organization, you can turn your closet into a well-curated haven for your beloved clothing items.


Following our previous blog post on decluttering, what do you do with the remaining pieces that you chose to keep? Let’s walk through how to organize your wardrobe and care for your clothes together. By giving your clothes some tender love, they not only will last longer but also bring you joy every time you open the doors.




Now that you have completed your decluttering, grab those organizers and hangers! It is time to create categories that serve you. When looking upon your fabric wonderland, don’t be overwhelmed! Start gathering your clothes and sorting them into piles. Keep a strict criteria for your consideration :

  1. What type of clothes are flattering on me?

  2. What shades of colours work for me?

  3. What fashion styles suits me best?

  4. Do I have appropriate clothing for different occasions?

There are many ways to go about defining a criteria to follow but do try to keep it as simple; You are curating outfits from these chosen pieces.

💡 Pro tip! As you put away your clothes, try to keep an idea of a wardrobe that you intend to build. It is tempting to keep everything but perhaps that jumper that does not match any of your outfits could be a key item in someone else’s wardrobe!

Efficient storage solutions can make a world of difference in your wardrobe organization. By planning ahead, you can save time on searching for that one matching sock that is hiding from the one you have in your hand. There's a few tips and tricks you may be able to utilize.

  1. Within your wardrobe, consider installing shelves or using storage units with drawers that pull out.

  2. Get clear bins and boxes for storing smaller items like shoes, purses or seasonal wear.

  3. Install hooks or begs inside or by it for extra storage and maximizing space.

  4. Use hangers that can hang multiple articles of clothing at once.

Sorting Out Your Clothes with Style and Sanity!

Looking at the massive piles of clothing , it can feel overwhelming. I feel faint looking at the amount I have amassed over the years. Don’t stress, it is alright to break it into a few sessions. Designate a time and space for you and get to work!

  1. Sort and organize your clothes into piles. Keep your shirts together, put your bottoms in a different pile.

  2. Work within the pile. Organize it further by creating subcategories such as colour or season. It might be easier to put away those shorts in a storage bin until the warmer months return.

  3. Fold your clothes neatly and considering storing organizing bins for each category. Label it to remember where everything belongs!

  4. Arrange your clothes so that it is easy to see from a glance!

  5. Congratulations of your newly organized wardrobe!


To give future you an easier time, spend a few minutes each week maintaining your wardrobe. After completing your laundry, put items back where they belong and avoid filling your wardrobe. When a holiday sale comes along, instead of acquiring all the best deals, contemplate what items are you going to replace instead of accumulating a den of clothes.


💡Pro tip! Do you still hold on to your high school jumper or school uniform? It is alright to keep these clothing as keepsakes if you no longer fit them! Designate a little corner in your closet or under your bed and pop them into a organizing bin for safe storage!

These tasks are easier said than done. Especially for those struggling with ADHD. Staring into your wardrobe is like staring into the abyss. While the tips above may be useful, some options may not be as helpful.

We have gathered some tips that may be more applicable in this case!

  1. Instead of pulling out everything all at once and setting aside a space to sort through, start with a gameplan.

  2. Break these sessions down into mini-sessions. Even 10-15 minutes will suffice!

  3. Take out a box and determine what category of clothes you will sort through in this session.

  4. Pull out clothing that fit in that category and put it in the organization box. Label clearly!

  5. After going through the categories and repeat the process.

  6. Within these categories, arrange your clothes by colour. The rainbow will guide you and help you choose your outfits with more ease!

After completing laundry, try to put everything back to where it belongs. By returning a piece to its spot, it will help in maintaining your beautifully curated wardrobe!

💡Pro tip! Instead of having several different categories , simplify it! Streamline it and make it functional for you. Too many subcategories may not be very helpful
